Accounting and Payroll Specialist

Talentworks is pleased to be partnering with a local non-profit community based agency seeking an Accounting and Payroll Specialist. Located in the HRM and reporting into the Director of Accounting, this role is perfect for an experienced payroll specialist with accounting knowledge and experience who is looking for a new challenge.

Job tasks and responsibilities:

Create employee profiles in the payroll system
Maintain time entry submissions and management of employee leave and absences
Processing of payroll on a bi-weekly schedule including related remittances
Analyze large volumes of Payroll transactions
Management of a third party payroll system
Responsible for the integration of payroll data to Sage 300 ERP
Liaising with payroll providers
Identify data relating to specific payments to employees
Analyze data, provide reports and information on findings
Process all payroll activities related to terminations and resignations
Reconciliation of employee and employer benefits
Assist Director of Accounting with budget preparation for payroll and benefits

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Payroll experience with end to end Payroll processing , including year-end reporting
General accounting knowledge within the area of payroll, with other accounting experience an asset
Experience working in a high-volume Payroll environment
Excellent data entry skills with strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Proficient Excel skills
PCP designation or working towards completion would be ideal
Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience
Be a self-starter, hands on and ready to get involved
Exceptional problem solving and analysis skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
